Welcome to The Pink Room by Dr. Cross! My name is Tamika and the creator of The Pink Room. I created this blog to serve as a peek into my life and the many ups and downs it brings. For those who know me, I am a busy body, always on the go, adventurous, and completely passionate about my career in medicine. I occasionally stop to smell the roses, practice self care, and enjoy the laughs and great memories of my loved ones.
As a minority professional, specifically in the field of medicine, I have the unique opportunity to show others my many viewpoints as part of the 2% on various issues. The 2% I speak of is the extremely small fraction of physicians that are black women. As I have navigated a multitude of obstacles in the medical field, I wanted to create a space to discuss these and serve as encouragement to others following a similar path.
The most important thing to remember with any profession is work-life balance. Although this has not always been my strong suit, I have learned to incorporate self care, travel, shared memories with loved ones as a part of my daily life. This is a space where I can share tips on finding that balance as well as life lessons when I wasn’t so great at creating balance.
Last and certainly not least, this space is created to help educate women and their loved ones about multiple medical topics, specifically in the field of OBGYN. One of the things I love most about my profession is my opportunity to educate women of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life on women’s health topics.
I hope you enjoy The Pink Room and visit frequently. Feel free to leave comments, ask questions, and/or subscribe. I am on IG, @tcross_md and have a page for The Pink Room on Facebook. Looking forward to chatting with you all! Besos!
